Due to COVID-19, the summer instructions will be conducted online. However, participating students will still be able to earn college credits on an official UCR Extension transcript, and virtually interact with distinguished instructors and fellow high-school students. This experience will greatly help students build a stronger portfolio during the college application process.

In addition, the NASA MAA LaunchPad program at UCR provides a scholarship opportunity for high-school students enrolled in STEM courses. Selected students will have their tuition for one summer-session STEM course paid by the LaunchPad program.

Eligibility:
• GPA 3.5 or above;
• Be in 11th or 12th grade in Fall 2021.
• Exceptional rising 10th graders may be considered on a case-by-case basis;

• Enroll in a STEM course (ME XR004, PHYS XR037) during summer and receive a passing grade

Application Process: Application deadline: Friday, June 11, 2021.
STEP 1:
Enroll in UCR Extension Courses: https://ext-qa.ucx.ucr.edu/youth/summeracademy. An
unofficial transcript is required. Enrollment deadline: Friday, June 11, 2021.

• STEP 2:
Apply for the NASA scholarship: http://bigdata.ucr.edu/fields/highschool21/. A nomination
letter from an authorized school official (teachers, principals, or chancellors) is required.

• Students who are selected for the NASA scholarship will have their tuition directly paid after the final grades are released. Scholarship recipients who fail to pass the STEM course will automatically be disqualified and invoiced by UCR Extension for tuition payment.
